| Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) occlusion is considered in
cases with cryptogenic stroke where R-L shunt at rest or after
Valsalva maneuver is shown by contrast echocardiography. The 4th
generation device with the incorporation of an inverted
counter-occluder has been found highly effective in preventing
recurrent strokes. The PFO device is a 25mm size COD device
provided with a standard inverted counter-occluder. The
centering ring is usually collapsed against the occluder in the left
atrium and the inverted counter-occluder is buttoned from the right
side.
